The three Newham police officers currently under investigation over allegations of racist abuse have now been suspended from duty.
Earlier today, the Metropolitan Police revealed an acting police sergeant and two Pcs had been placed on restricted duties following allegations they made racist comments within a group of officers.
The incidents are said to have happened between January 6 and March 15 this year.
The officers have now been referred to The Directorate of Professional Standards, the body responsible for investigating complaints against police officers, and the IPCC.
A Met Police spokesman said: “The status of officers under investigation is regularly reviewed.
“The review of the three officers’ status began yesterday and a decision made that they should be suspended. The officers have now been informed and are now officially suspended.”
