Men accused of stealing presents meant for a church children’s charity on Christmas eve were in court over the holidays.
The two men, Tony Parfett, 43, of North Street, Plaistow, and Anthony Ross, 20, of no fixed abode, were charged on Christmas day with theft from a motor vehicle after the presents were reported stolen.
They were remanded in custody and appeared at Thames Magistrates Court on Boxing day.
Ross was bailed with a nighttime curfew until his trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court on January 6, while Parfett will remain in custody until the same hearing on the same date.
Police said the presents have been found and returned.
