Two drugs couriers caught with six kilos of cocaine after officers swooped on them in a car park in Newham have been jailed.
Latif Lito, 35, from Southgate Grove, north London, and Ghenadie Borta, 34, of no fixed address, were arrested in Jack Cornwell Street, Manor Park, as part of an investigation by the National Crime Agency and Met Police Organised Crime Partnership (OCP) in August.
Today it has been revealed the pair have both being jailed for six years and five months at Blackfriars Crown Court after they admitted supplying class A drugs.
Borta was spotted by the officers filling a rucksack with the drugs from his van before handing the bag over to Lito.
A search of Borta’s van uncovered a specially constructed concealment in the passenger door which he had been using to transport the 91 percent pure cocaine which had a street value of £600,000.
Matthew McMillan, from OCP, said: “Organised criminals involved in drug distribution are often also linked to violence, exploitation and gang culture.”
