Teenager stabbed for mobile phone in Forest Gate

Police are appealing for information after an 18-year-old was stabbed through the hand for his mobile phone in Forest Gate.

The victim was walking along Claremont Road towards Woodgrange Road at around 8pm on Saturday March 3 when he was grabbed from behind by two men.

At first, the victim tried to fight back but stopped when one of the suspects produced a knife.

The suspect lunged at the victim with the blade, stabbing him in the back of his right hand.

Fearing for his safety, the victim decided to stop struggling and the suspects ripped his trouser pocket and stole his mobile phone.

They made off on foot east along Claremont Road towards Balmoral Road and Katherine Road.

Paramedics attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital for surgery on his hand. He has now been discharged,

The suspects are described as two men of oriental appearance, aged between 25 and 30, and approximately 5ft 7ins tall.
