Man charged with murder of East Ham stabbing as police name victim as Alfred Purcell

A man, 51, has today been charged with the murder of a man who was stabbed to death in East Ham, Newham.

Keith Nelson, of Mountsfield Road, East Ham, was charged with the murder of Alfred Purcell, 34, in White Horse Road on Monday, June 26.

He was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon and will appear in custody today at Thames Magistrates’ Court.

A woman, 44, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in late July.
