A 19-year-old man has been charged with carrying three knives on a bus in Barking Road.

Zuriel Daniel-Laurent of High Road, Ilford, will appear on bail at Thames Magistrates’ Court on July 5 charged with three counts of possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of class B drugs.

It follows an incident in which a group of bus passengers witnessed armed police arrest a man who had been travelling on a bus at approximately 2.35pm in Gladstone Avenue, East Ham, on Monday.

In a video filmed by one of the passengers, an officer is seen removing a large packaged knife from several wrapped plastic bags placed inside a rucksack.

An investigation was later carried out by officers from Newham police.
