An East Ham road was cordoned off after a man threatened to harm himself.

Police officers and the London Ambulance Service were called to a home in Compton Avenue at around 8.30pm last night.

A search of the property saw officers discover controlled drugs and cordons were put in place.

The man was taken to an east London hospital where he was subsequently sectioned under the mental health act.

The cordons are still in place while the police investigation continues.
