A man from East Ham who carried out a spate of burglaries while posing as a worker in a high visibility jacket has been jailed for five years.
Daniel Farrugia, of Hockley Avenue, teamed up with Anthony Hurlock, from Chingford, to target seven homes in Chigwell, Loughton, Ongar, Kelvedon Hatch, Pilgrims Hatch and Brentwood between January 23 and February 7.
All the break-ins took place between 10.30am and 4.15pm.
They both admitted seven counts of burglary and one attempted burglary and were jailed for five years each on Wednesday.
Det Con Robert Guiney, investigating officers, said: “They smashed windows with objects, carried out messy searches of properties and then left with people’s possessions.
“In one instance, they attempted to rob a property but were distracted and claimed to be fixing a leak.
“Although none of the property was ever recovered, I hope these sentences bring some justice to their victims.”
