TEN people have today been arrested in dawn police raids across Newham in an operation to tackle domestic violence and other hate crimes.
They were questioned on offences that range from violence and common assault to breach of court orders.
London-wide, 147 individuals were arrested.
The operation has been timed to link in with today’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, known as White Ribbon Day, which is accompanied by 16 days of international activity to combat all forms of violence against women.
Det Insp Adrian Looby of Newham’s Community Safety unit said: “Today’s operation sends out a clear message, that violence in all forms will not be tolerated in Newham. These arrests demonstrate our continued commitment to prosecuting perpetrators of violence and hate crime. We want vulnerable victims to be reassured that they will be protected and that we are working together with our partners to ensure their ongoing safety and wellbeing.”
