Case against staff accused of spying at East Ham Leisure Centre dropped

PUBLISHED: 16:01 01 October 2013 | UPDATED: 16:01 01 October 2013

Police are to take no further action over claims that leisure centre staff spied on women.

Five current staff and a former employee were arrested in April for allegedly spying on the women’s changing room at East ham Leisure Centre, in Barking Road.

Police say that no charges will be brought after the Crown Prosecution Service said there was “insufficient evidence”.

A spokesman for activeNewham, which took over the leisure centre, said: “Customers can be reassured that as soon as the allegations became known we took all steps necessary to make sure they could feel complety safe.”
