The owner, a 29-year-old man, left it near one of the train’s toilets after boarding the c2c service at Chalkwell, near Southend.

Another man was seen close to the bike until he left the train with it at 5.40pm on Wednesday, February 11.

Now British Transport Police have released CCTV images of a man they believe could help with their investigation.

If you were on the train or at West Ham station when the theft took place, or you recognise the man in the footage, call British Transport Police on 0800 405040 or text 61016, quoting TSBU/B9 of 10/03/15.

Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
