The mystery of Newham’s unidentified flying objects has been explained.

Ian Prout, a retired engineer, contacted the Recorder when he saw four mysterious white blobs in the skies above his home in Custom House on Sunday night.

After numerous reader theories, ranging from the sceptical to the scientific, the mystery has finally been solved by Newham Council.

A council spokesman said: “We are sorry to disappoint anyone who may have thought the lights in the sky was the beginning of an alien invasion, but it was not the case.

“And despite Newham’s mayor, Rokhsana Fiaz, meeting Batman at Stratford Shopping Centre recently, it wasn’t a test of the Bat Signal either.

“As 32,000 people who came to Under the Stars over four nights in East Ham’s Central Park can testify, it was all part of the spectacular lights show that accompanied the brilliant line up of music we assembled this year for residents to enjoy.”

So, regrettably, the Recorder hasn’t exposed the existence of alien life forms just yet.
