Residents of flats in Stratford were treated to a fun day last week while their building was undergoing refurbishment.
The event, hosted by property developer Apollo Group, served to enhance community cohesion and social integration among residents of David Lee, Brassett Point and Leather Gardens tower blocks while they replaced soil stacks.
Various council departments and service providers put on a bouncy castle, face-painting, sports and games for the children while Polypipe, the piping systems company, and Beachcrown, the building refurbishment company, provided prizes for the raffle and a buffet was served by local restaurant Cafe Mondo.
West Ham ward Councillor Ron Manley said: “Wednesday was a fun day with an excellent turnout. Hopefully, we can work with residents to do more of them in the future!’
There were exhibits on the day from Newham Foundation Trust Oral Health team, Newham Fire Brigade, Prostate Cancer Charity, Community Support, Safer Transport and Newham Council’s Building Control, Sports Development and Road Safety teams.
