GET set for what has been dubbed The People’s Run in Newham…get fit and have fun in the Newham Classic 10k.

The third edition of Newham Classic 10K with Tessa Sanderson will be held on April 10. Entries are now open for the run which takes in West Ham Park and the Olympic Stadium and Park, passing all the historic sights.

Olympic gold medallist Tessa is once again hosting the run for the third time and is encouraging all standards of runners to enter.

She said: “Come and join us again for another fun filled Sunday. Entries are already coming in so don’t miss out. You can enter online now or send us your entry by post.

“NC10K is an ideal platform to raise fund for charities. You can use NC10K to raise fund for any cause close to your heart. And there are attractive cash awards for winners in each category and a chance to meet sporting celebrities on the finish line.”

The race was launched in 2009 and was successful again in 2010.

Having spent the last few years seeking out potential champions through her Tessa Sanderson Foundation and Sports Academy and her now inspiring the wider community into sport, regardless of their age, gender or ethnic background.

The run is supported by the Newham Recorder and is designed to be enjoyable for beginners, but will also suit experienced runners who are looking to set personal bests or get in practice for the following week‘s London Marathon.

Tessa added: “The race is great for all talents. People new to running or nervous about the distance won‘t be overawed because we make it fun…I promise.”

Serious runners will also have a good time because there will be some amazing athletes taking part - many of which will be featuring soon.

Already last year and this year Tessa has been staging a successful series of runs around West Ham Park on Sundays to get people in the mood.

“There will be a lot of fun events on the day and we think more people than ever before will come..it really will be The People‘s Run,” said Tessa.

Newham College of Further Education, The City of London and St John Ambulance, GLL Sport Foundation and the Recorder are supporting the event.

The Tessa Sanderson Foundation and Academy is a supporting charity.
