A Radical Church (ARC) in Sebert Road is taking a break from worship on Saturday to offer praise of a different kind.

Positioning Yourself For Growth is being held for members of the community who are looking to set up businesses or move further in their careers.

Morris Simpson, one of the organisers, said: “It’s something we started because we wanted to reach out to the community to help people into careers and businesses. We’ve got a lot of people in the church who have lots of skills and careers which have done well, and we want to reach out to the community to share them.”

The day will include CV advice, workshops on setting up businesses, and keynote speeches from people who’ve had successful carers, including the head of Lewisham Council, people in corporate roles, and MBE holders. Morris said if it does well, they’d like it to be an ongoing event.

“We realise there’s a great cross section of people within the community who we’d like to give back to,” he said.

“We want to help people grow to the next step.”

The event will take place from 9.30am until 4pm on September 8. The day is free, with lunch provided for £6. To register, click here.
