Youngsters at a school took part in a sponsored read and raised more than 400 for a children’s hospice
Their efforts raised a total of 440 for Richard House Children’s Hospice which is based in Beckton.
Pupils from West Ham Church of England Primary School, in Portway, Stratford, took part in a sponsored read last term for the charity. Kaejah Brill and Shannell Dray presented the cheque to Lucy Frost, the hospice’s community fundraiser.
A spokeswoman for the school said it supports many charities and appeals throughout the year including Pakistan Flood Appeal and Children in Need but chose the hospice because it is much closer to home and they were keen to help other Newham children and their families.
