A girl cut off her hair so she could donate it to a charity that makes wigs for children with cancer.
Charley-Mae Bigg, 10, of Hallywell Crescent in Beckton, cut off her eight-inch ponytail at a charity event at West Ham United Supporters Club to donate the hair to charity.
She had let her hair grow for about five months.
The hair will go to the Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs made of real hair for children who have lost theirs due to chemotherapy.
Mum Alison, who organised the event with Charley’s grandmother, Stephanie, said: “It was all Charley’s idea. Some people she knew cut her hair and she wanted to the same to help the children at the Little Princess Trust.”
The event on Saturday featured a raffle of items donated by Stratford shops and the money raised from tickets will go to the Bobby Moore Fund, which raises money to research bowel cancer.
Ms Bigg said: “We would like to say a big thank you to West Ham sports club. I’m very proud of Charley. She also did the Run for Life in May. She’s happy with the new haircut – she loves it.”
