A national charity has said thanks to a Dagenham Motors dealership for collecting gift-filled boxes for children in developing countries.
Hundreds of the shoe-boxes collected at the Plaistow were distributed to disadvantaged children in developing countries over the festive period.
Simon Barrington, Executive Director of Samaritan’s Purse, the charity which organises the Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal, said: “We would like to thank Dagenham Motors and all the members of the public who wrapped, packed and brought in their shoeboxes.”
The shoeboxes, put together by members of the public, schools, church and community groups, contained everything from sweets and toys to toothbrushes and felt-tip pens.
Over 8,500 gift-filled shoeboxes were collected by Dagenham Motors and other dealerships in its parent group Ford Retail, which has supported the charity for the past seven years.
