Residents are holding a charity car wash on Sunday to raise money for the victims of the Nepal earthquake.

Members of the SKS Swaminarayan Hindu Temple will be raising cash by washing cars in the Shaftesbury Road car park, in Forest Gate, between 10am and 5pm.

Kishore Varsani, a member of the temple, said: “An estimated 8 million people have been affected by the devastating earthquake.

More than a quarter of the country’s population, many in remote villages, had their homes damaged or destroyed and have been in urgent need of food, water, shelter and medical care.

“We share the suffering and sorrow of the families affected.”

Members of the temple also raised cash following the Haiti earthquake in 2010 where they washed 123 cars in 8 hours raising a total of £1773.
