Specialist police officers responded to a serious collision involving an elderly pedestrian in Canning Town this morning.

A woman in her mid 80s was hit by a car at 8.50am in Butchers Road at the junction with Hans Walk.

She was taken to an east London hospital with serious leg injuries. Her next of kin have been informed.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are continuing.

An ambulance crew arrived on the scene within four minutes. The woman was treated at the scene before being taken for further treatment.
