Spectators visiting the Olympic Park will take part in activities devised by Rokeby School in Canning Town.

For four days, eight students aged 14 to 17, will be leading entertainment in the area of the Park known as the ‘Great British Garden’.

Featuring wildflowers and grasses, as well as a frog pond, swing, willow tunnel, and running track-inspired spiral paths, the pupils will be leading visitors in activities such as face painting, target games, message boards, and sport sessions entirely managed and organised by the students..

Seb Coe, Chairman of LOCOG, said: “The students running the activities in the Great British Garden in the Olympic Park will not only gain new leaderships skills but will also provide spectators with a fantastic addition to their London 2012 Games experience.”

Charlotte Robinson, head teacher principal of Rokeby school said: “This is an amazing opportunity for some of our students to show their leadership skills to people from around the world.”

Shadman Rafiq, student of Rokeby School said: “I think it is fabulous, a unique opportunity.”

Rokeby School on Barking Road was selected with other Newham schools to join the Get Set network, the official London 2012 education programme.
