The sentencing of Canning Town acid attacker Mary Konye, who left childhood friend Naomi Oni disfigured for life, has been adjourned.
Konye, of Throckmorton Road, was due to be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court last Friday but the hearing will now take place on March 21.
She has been told to expect a substantial jail term after she was found guilty of applying corrosive fluid with intent to disfigure, maim or cause grevious bodily harm in January.
Konye attacked childhood friend Ms Oni as she walked home in Lodge Avenue, Dagenham in the early hours of December 30, 2012, dressed in a niqab (full length Muslim veil).
Speaking to the Post following the verdict, Ms Oni’s mother, Marian Yalekhue, described how her daughter had a “cat and mouse” relationship with her attacker.
