A 61-year-old man was arrested after 40 cannabis plants were discovered in the back garden of a Manor Park property.
On Wednesday, police were made aware of a cannabis factory growing at an address in Wordsworth Avenue, after a Newham Council Officer found the plants during a tenancy visit to the property.
A Met spokeswoman said officers from Newham’s Enforcement Policing Team then attended the address and discovered around 40 mature cannabis plants.
Police arrested a 61-year-old man at the address on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis. He was taken to an east London police station and was later bailed to return on a date in early October.
PC Richard Martin, said: “Cannabis factories pose a serious fire risk not only to the property they are being cultivated in but also to neighbouring properties as well.”
Anyone with information regarding drugs offences can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
