“Unrelenting focus” is at the bottom of train operator c2c’s punctuality, once again recognised as the best in Britain.

New statistics published by Network Rail show 97.5 per cent of c2c trains arrived on time in July, topping the table for timeliness.

“We are all proud at c2c that our unrelenting focus on punctuality has delivered such a reliable train service for our customers,” said managing director Julian Drury.

“We aim to build on this with a host of new improvements that, combined, will provide more capacity, deliver greater value for local passengers, and ensure they receive excellent customer service.”

The figures published by Network Rail are the Public Performance Measure, the rail industry’s official standard of punctuality. c2c has held the top spot since December 2011.

It’s future improvements for passengers include a new timetable from this December, staffing every station from the first train of the day to the last, and a new scheme that will automatically compensate season ticket holders for delays of as little as two minutes.
