The man that brought back variety entertainment and slapstick has been given an MBE.

Prince Charles presented Vincent Hayes, the Director of Brick Lane Music Hall, with the award at Buckingham Palace.

Mr Hayes said: “It was lovely. I’m a big fan of Prince Charles so I was glad it was him who pinned on the award. He said he was thrilled to hear our music halls is so popular with a wider audience.”

The music hall relocated from Brick Lane to Silvertown in 2003.
