THE woman who twice stabbed East Ham MP Steve Timms at his advice surgery in revenge for his vote for the war on Iraq has been found guilty of his attempted murder at the Old Bailey this morning.

Roshonara Choudhry, 21, of Central Park Road, East Ham, did not give evidence and told her lawyers not to question witnesses or mitigate on her behalf. She has refused to enter the dock, rather remaining in her cell as she does not recognise the jurisdiction of the court.

She had plunged a knife into the former Treasury Minister’s stomach when she visited his surgery at the Beckton Globe Centre on May 14. It broke. After she was overpowered a second blade was found in her bag. She told police she intended to kill the MP.

The jury took just 14 minuutes to convict her of attempted murder and two counts of possessing blades.

Choudhry is expected to be sentenced tomorrow. She faces years behind bars.
