Green Street has been partially closed after the carriageway collapsed.
The West Ham road was shut between the junctions of Shaftesbury Road and Boleyn Road earlier this afternoon after being deemed unsafe.
Buses are currently being diverted along Upton Lane and Plashet Road while all other vehicles must follow a signposted diversion.
Thames Water are investigating.
