Residents concerned about their environment can take part in some outdoor fun and help improve their surroundings.
CleanupUK, a charity dedicated to tackling the problem of litter and fly-tipping, is asking Beckton residents to join up with like-minded neighbours twice this September.
They have organised an event that will take place on September 14 along the footpath ‘corridor’ from Beckton DLR station to Beckton Park (starting near the East London Gymnastics Centre). It will be followed by another on September 28 on a footpath on Bradley Stone Road, near the Beckton Globe Library.
The routes include plenty of side alleys and spaces behind shrubberies, and both take place from 10am until noon. All local residents can volunteer to join in the fun on either day or both days for as long as they feel like taking part. All litter-picking equipment will be provided.
