Children and families joined a host of celebrities at London’s first children’s hospice at a special exhibition in their honour.

Richard House Children’s Hospice in Beckton was transformed into a prestigious art gallery. The event showcased art, films and photographs produced by children, along with professional portrait pictures taken by the renowned photographer Ken Kamara.

A number of the hospice’s key supporters, including award-winning actress Imelda Staunton and Downtown Abbey star Jim Carter, joined community leaders at the event.

The evening was held during the hospice’s ‘Show a Little Love’ week - a campaign which aims to raise awareness and celebrate the work of Richard House.

Peter Ellis, chief executive of Richard House said: “It was a fantastic night celebrating Richard House’s role in the community, and it was great to put the real stars of the hospices – the children – right at the heart of the evening.

“It was a joy to see Imelda and Jim eating popcorn and engrossed in the films produced at Richard House surrounded by the families and children that use our services.”

Niall Couper, director of communications at Richard House, who helped organise the event, said: “The highlight for me was seeing the faces of children Josh, Aisha, Abdullah, Lance and Miles light up when they saw their own portraits displayed in such a wonderful way. Richard House is all about creating positive memories for our families and children and I hope that the night will be one such memory.”
