Youngsters joined volleyball player Rachel Laybourne to launch Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park’s newest attraction.
BeachEast, an urban beach running until August 21, features a funfair, beach bars and of course, a lot of sand.
The Team GB star, who competed in the 2012 Olympic Games, was on hand to give primary school pupils a lesson in the sport.
The children were also able to make a splash in the paddling pool.
The urban beach is the brainchild of Mellors Group, who have imported 1,000 tonnes of sand to create it.
James Mellors said: “It’s a real privilege to be setting up here, right next to the former Olympic stadium.
“Our aim is to make the summer of 2015 at least as much fun as the summer of 2012 and we look forward to welcoming families and friends from all over London to BeachEast and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park between now and the end of August.”
BeachEast is free to enter and is open daily between 10am and 10pm.
