A Bafta-nominated director is offering teenagers the chance to learn how to make their own documentaries.
Chris Atkins, who directed Taking Liberties and Starsuckers, will teach 15 to 19 year olds as part of the Stratford Picturehouse Fresh Docs project, which is supported by Into Film.
The free six-week course will take place on Monday evenings, starting from April 21, and include talks and screenings with industry professionals spanning a range of documentary styles.
Participants will then be giving the opportunity to make their own short documentary with Chris Atkins in May, during the summer half term.
Clare Binns, programming and acquisitions director at Picturehouse Cinemas, said: βItβs a project with great scope to encourage a new generation of documentary watchers and filmmakers and which we hope will contribute to the renaissance of documentary film that cinema is experiencing.β
To apply for the course, email education@picturehouses.co.uk with your name, date of birth, telephone number, postcode and a paragraph explaining why you want to take part.
