Children in Beckton have the chance to get up close and personal with the top athletes of the animal kingdom this month.
Gallions Reach Shopping Park, at 3 Armada Way, are holding informal educational workshops called Animal Athletes for free every Friday until August 31.
Like the spectacular Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Olympic Games, the creatures involved are a surprise with events kicking off this Friday (August 17) showcasing The Boxers and Wrestlers.
On the following Friday (August 24), it’s the turn of The Swimmers to prove who is the Michael Phelps of the animal world while the last workshop on Friday August 31 will focus on The Gymnasts.
With three natural world sessions running per day, shoppers will have the chance to catch Animal Athletes at 11.30pm, 1pm, and 3pm in the Event Area in between Superdrug and Next.
Youngsters are also encouraged to get active by taking part in a Safari Hunt around the shopping park every Friday to look for wild animals in four specially chosen shop windows.
A safari notebook is up for grabs for the first 100 young nature lovers to enter the Hunt each Friday and all names wil be entered into a free prize draw for a special ‘Animal Experience’.
