Around a hundred people were evacuated yesterday during a blaze at a car repair work shop in East Ham.

Four fire engines, 21 firefighters and police officers were sent to the fire on Flanders Road.

The garage contained two vehicles and it is believed cylinders were also involved in the fire. A cordon was put in place as some cylinders can become dangerous when exposed to heat. And people in the surrounding area were evacuated.

The Brigade was called at 4.29pm and the fire was under control just before 6pm. Firefighters from Barking and Plaistow fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
