Just one day after going on sale, the first weekend of slide tickets for the ArcelorMittal Orbit have already sold out.

The tickets, which cost an extra £5 on top of the usual entry fee, have been snapped up quickly by thrill-seekers keen to try out the 40 second ride, which opens on Friday, June 24.

A spokesman for the London Legacy Development Corporation said there were only a limited number still available for the following two weekends.

He added: “We’re delighted with how well they’re selling.”

The slide will see riders hit speeds of up to 15 miles per hour as they travel down the 178m tunnel.

Advance adult tickets cost £15, including entry fee to the ArcelorMittal Orbit, while on the day adult tickets cost £17, including entry fee to the ArcelorMittal Orbit.

Newham residents, and all residents in the host boroughs, will receive discounts on tickets.

Concessions are available for children, students, seniors and family groups. Annual passes are available for the ArcelorMittal Orbit only.
