A series of charitable fundraising initiatives have started to take off at London City Airport in aid of Richard House Children’s Hospice.

The Beckton based hospice is the airport’s chosen charity. Airport volunteers spent their Sunday baking cakes and biscuits in preparation for a charity cake sale for London City Airport staff last week. The cakes were made available by the Community Team to all staff across the airport to purchase for 1, with all proceeds going to the airport’s chosen charity of 15 years.

Janette Markwell, a local resident and a volunteer at The Royal Docks Learning and Activity Centre in North Woolwich also contributed and baked a generous 500 cookies for the sale.

Regular fundraising collections with passengers are also taking place within the airport with the help of Richard House Hospice Volunteers and more thrill seeking activities are planned to take place over the course of the year, including a charity cycle ride and a hair-raising sky dive.
