As the first in her family to go to university, Caroline Casey has set the bar high.

The schoolgirl from St Angela’s and St Bonaventure’s Sixth Form will be heading to Cambridge University’s Selwyn College to study natural sciences.

She said: “I put in quite a lot of work and I’m really pleased with how I did.

“I’m looking forward to going to Cambridge, but I’m a bit nervous too.”

Caroline achieved A*s in mathematics and biology, plus an A in chemistry, and maintains a trend in the school’s results.

Headteacher Mark Johnson added: “We’ve had one of our students get into either Oxford or Cambridge in each of the last three years, which is great.”
