PLANS to promote sustainability through a 30 million mini science museum and conference centre at the Royal Victoria Dock last night got the Town Hall green light.

The project was announced in June by Siemens, the technology giant, which hopes to have its landmark building built and operational by early 2012.

The Siemens Pavilion is the flagship of a Green Enterprise District being planned by London Mayor Boris Johnson and Newham Council using under-developed industrial land to attract new investment and create up to 6,000 jobs.

It will be a permanent showcase for sustainable technologies which Newham Mayor Sir Robin Wales said would be “an unbelievable catalyst for further high-value, high-quality, job creating investment.”
