Grime star Tinchy Stryder is set to headline a free music festival.
The event, Under the Stars: Live at the Docks, will take place on July 4, in Newham at Silverworks Island in the Royal Docks area.
Tinchy, one of the UK’s most influential grime artists, grew up in Newham and attended St Bonaventure’s School before studying at the University of East London. He first gained recognition as part of grime collective Roll Deep before launching a successful solo career with hits including Number 1 and Never Leave You.

Forhad Hussain, Mayor of Newham, said: "Since we announced the return of Under the Stars less than two weeks ago, the response from people in Newham has been phenomenal. I am delighted that Tinchy Stryder is our headliner because he grew up in this borough and has achieved so much in his career.
"People are excited to see him coming home and also checking out the other artists who are due to play. The demand has been so high there are now only a few hundred tickets left, so I urge everyone to secure theirs before it is too late."
This year’s festival will showcase a mix of established and emerging UK talent in grime, R&B, and Afrobeats. The event will be hosted by Ashley J and feature performances from DJ Huggie T, singer-songwriter Ola Zainab, four-time UK Beatbox Champion Grace Savage, style-driven R&B group STXRM Collective, and Newham-raised artist Mumzy.
The festival is organised with support from Broadwick Live, 9 Point 8, Silvertown, and the Royal Docks Team. It is designed to celebrate Newham’s creativity and community spirit.
Entry is free with a valid ticket, though only a limited number remain.
Mr Stryder’s return to Newham is expected to draw large crowds, particularly given his deep ties to the area and influence on the UK music scene. He released his breakthrough album Star in the Hood, followed by Catch 22, which reached number two on the UK Albums Chart and earned BPI Gold certification.
Under the Stars promises a night of music and celebration in the heart of east London.
