Up until June 27, Canning Town will be a feature neighbourhood for the London Festival of Architecture (LFA), with a programme of public events exploring the area’s transformation through housing, public spaces, and cultural projects.
Guided walks, exhibitions, and workshops will take place throughout the month, led by Newham Council in partnership with Ballymore, Transport for London (TfL), Cody Dock, and other local organisations.

Mayor of Newham, Forhad Hussain, said: "Canning Town is one of Newham’s most exciting neighbourhoods, with a strong community spirit and a bright future.
"The festival is a chance for residents and visitors alike to come together, explore the neighbourhood, and celebrate the changes taking place."
The festival will highlight the delivery of more than 10,000 new homes, new community facilities, and public spaces under Newham Council’s Growth Plan.
It will also explore future projects, including the redevelopment of the Limmo Peninsula and a masterplan for 1,300 to 1,600 new homes on the Canning Town estates.
These events will invite residents to share feedback, learn about regeneration proposals, and discover how the area is evolving.
Simon Ryan, developments director at Ballymore, said: "This neighbourhood is a remarkable example of old meeting new in London – where a proud industrial heritage has helped shape bold and exciting contemporary architecture.
"The area has undergone significant transformation in recent years, and we’re proud that our own projects have played a small part in that journey."
The theme of this year’s LFA is 'Belonging', and many of the events will reflect on identity, community, and connection.
The festival will include artist-led workshops, behind-the-scenes tours of Canning Town station, a new exhibition space at Cody Docks’ Boat House, and the launch of a public exhibition for the Limmo Peninsula.
The festival will also showcase plans for a new riverside walkway along the River Lea and continued connectivity improvements, including the proposed Mayer Parry Bridge.
In the coming years, further development is planned for the area, including the Newham Heritage Centre, set to open at the site of Canning Town Old Library in 2027.
Events are open to the public, although some require advance registration.
