An aerial piano performance will take centre stage at a festival celebrating innovation and enterprise.

The free Royal Docks Innovation and Enterprise Summer Festival returns to the University of East London’s (UEL) Docklands campus on June 3, running from 11am to 7pm.

Set against the university’s waterfront, the festival promises a packed programme of live performances, interactive exhibits, creative workshops, and family-friendly activities.

A piano concert performed high above the Docklands waterfront will serve as the festival’s standout moment.

Hilary Lissenden, Executive Director of Sport Strategy and Growth at the University of East London, said: "The Summer Festival is all about bringing our local community, students and partners together through health, creativity and shared experiences.

"From live performances and interactive activities to Conquer the Docklands, our mini triathlon style challenge combining rowing, virtual sports and mental challenges.

"The festival reflects the University of East London’s commitment to making health, wellbeing and opportunity accessible, inclusive and engaging for everyone."

Highlights include public workshops, wellbeing sessions, street food, live music, and opportunities to meet the people behind some of UEL’s most innovative research and projects. The event also supports UEL’s Year of Health campaign, promoting wellbeing, sustainability and community resilience.

Guests will be able to enjoy interactive exhibits and innovation showcases, creative workshops for all ages, and a UCAS fair.

Other features include the Stratford Redevelopment Exhibition, an international conference on AI and sustainability, and wellbeing-themed experiences. Visitors can also take part in Conquer the Docklands, a mini triathlon challenge that includes rowing, a mental test and virtual sports.

Entry is free; Conquer the Docklands costs £3 to enter, and funds raised through festival activities will support the continued development of SportsDock facilities for students and the local community. Further activities include hands-on 'make and take' workshops.

These cover aromatherapy, perfume-making, chocolate decorating and more for a £5 contribution.

Masterclasses in cocktails, mocktails, and creative sessions such as wreath-making, mini tufting and plant potting are also available.

The festival is open to the public, with advance booking recommended. It takes place at the University of East London’s Docklands campus on University Way, London E16 2RD.

Full details and booking information are available at the UEL website.
