The body of a 16-year-old schoolboy was discovered on a street in Plaistow.

Emergency services were called to Stephens Road in the early hours of Saturday, January 10, to reports that a boy in school uniform had been found dead with an obvious head injury.

The London Ambulance Service attended and pronounced he was dead at 12.28am.

A spokesperson for the Met Police confirmed that officers were called to the scene by London Ambulance Service.

“Officers attended the scene where sadly a 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead. His next of kin have been informed,” the spokesperson said.

“The death is being treated as unexpected and an investigation is ongoing, but officers believe it is not suspicious at this time. A file is being prepared for the coroner.”

A post-mortem carried out on the same day gave the boy’s cause of death as multiple injuries.

A full inquest is set to take place in August.
