The homes will be built on brownfield sites as part of Newham Council’s housing delivery programme.
Populo Living, the council’s housing company, will deliver 565 homes across the Ferndale Gardens and Pier Road sites.
Rokhsana Fiaz, Mayor of Newham, said: "These two sites are pivotal in our vision for the wider revival of the Royal Docks and surrounding areas, including parts of the borough long left behind.
"With a pipeline of 8,000 new homes on council owned land, I am pleased that we are turbocharging council-led housing delivery and showcasing how Newham is growing London.
"As well as supporting the government’s mission to build 1.5 million homes, we are delivering opportunities for our people at a time when the housing crisis is skyrocketing.
"By creating high quality, genuinely affordable homes, we are also opening new opportunities for small businesses and entrepreneurs as part of our dynamic Newham Growth Plan."

Around one third of the homes will be delivered at 'affordable' social rent levels.
The Pier Road site in North Woolwich will include 350 apartments across five blocks, with 127 homes designated for social rent.
Plans also include 800sqm of makerspace and a café.
The Ferndale Gardens site in Beckton will deliver 215 homes, with 81 offered at social rent, subject to a planning amendment.
The scheme will also provide 5,500sqm of accessible green space.
Deborah Heenan, chief executive of Populo Living, said: "Pier Road and Ferndale Gardens mark a major milestone for Populo Living, as they take the number of homes delivered to well over 1,000 on behalf of the borough, with several thousand homes in Newham’s pipeline."
The developments are backed by funding from the government and Greater London Authority.
Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2026, with first residents expected to move in from early 2028.
The wider Newham Growth Plan aims to deliver 8,000 homes on council-owned land and support economic development.
The Pier Road site sits opposite the Grade II-listed Woolwich Pedestrian Tunnel and is close to the Woolwich Ferry and King George V DLR station.
The scheme will also include improvements to bus and ferry infrastructure, developed in partnership with Transport for London.
