Six people have been arrested as a man is fighting for his life after being stabbed in Manor Park. 

The incident happened in Sheringham Avenue just before 4am this morning (September 8).

Officers were dispatched to the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service, where a 62-year-old man was found stabbed. 

He was taken to hospital for further treatment where he remains in a life-threatening condition. 

Six men aged between 22 and 57 were arrested at a nearby address and are in custody. 

A crime scene remains in place along Sheringham Avenue and Romford Road whilst enquiries continue. 

Additional officers have been deployed to the area for community reassurance.

A Met spokesperson said: "At 03:57hrs on Monday, 8 September, police were called to Sheringham Avenue, Manor Park, to reports that a man had been stabbed.

"The 62-year-old man was treated by police and the London Ambulance Service and taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

"Six men between the ages of 22 and 57 were arrested at a nearby address in connection to this incident and remain in custody."
