Two teenagers who have been accused of throwing a heavy chair from the floor above in Westfield Stratford have appeared in court.

Both boys, 14 and 15, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Stratford Magistrates’ Court after being charged with criminal damage that “recklessly endangered life”.

It follows reports of furniture being thrown at the shopping centre on March 1.

According to the charges, the chair was worth £500.

The next youth court hearing was adjourned until May 21, with no pleas put forward.

The boys have been released on bail under conditions to be curfewed at home and that they do not contact each other, nor enter Westfield.
