A man extradited from the Netherlands has been charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in Newham.

Saqib Khan, 22, of no fixed address, was arrested by Dutch authorities on December 4, 2023 following Met Police’s work with international law enforcement partners.

The force said Khan was returned to the UK on Friday (January 12) and taken into custody where he was charged with murder and possession of a knife.

He is the sixth man arrested and charged in the incident that happened on November 11, 2023.

Officers were called at 10.11pm to reports of a man stabbed inside a car at the junction of Victoria Avenue and Grangewood Street.

They found the victim, later named as 26-year-old Anselam Senaj, with stab injuries. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he died at the scene.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest. Met Police said his next of kin continued to be supported by specialist officers.

On November 22, warrants were issued at various addresses in London. 18-year-old Khalis Malik of Pittman Gardens in Ilford, 20-year-old Zain Ali of Poulett Road in East Ham, 19-year-old Esahak Yusuf of Benson Avenue in East Ham and two 17-year-old boys were arrested and taken into custody as a result.

They appeared at the Old Bailey last on Tuesday (November 28). Further information regarding their next court appearance is awaited.

Saqib Khan who was charged on January 12, will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (January 13).
