A man has been sentenced to more than eight years imprisonment after police discovered class A drugs worth £2m at a Newham address. 

Mamun Miah, 38, of Newham was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on November 17 to eight years and three months. 

He previously admitted to two counts of supplying cocaine and heroin.

A search warrant was executed in June 2023 at an address in Newham, where police discovered 20kg of cocaine and heroin. 

The combined street value of the substances was estimated to be around £2m. 

DI Glenn Butler said: "This was a significant seizure of Class A drugs which has resulted in a lengthy term of imprisonment for Miah. 

"Drugs are often the driver of violent crimes and contribute to an increase in acquisitive crime. 

"The Met is committed to tackling those controlling drug markets and protecting local communities who suffer the consequences of the criminality drugs bring".
