A popular Korean food store is set open in a brand-new location this December.

Bunsik, a viral Korean grab-and-go “sensation”, is set to be welcomed to Westfield Stratford City later this year.

Its fourth London location will be the first and only Korean restaurant in the shopping centre.

A spokesperson for Bunsik said: “Bunsik Stratford will offer shoppers the chance to enjoy authentic Korean cuisine while immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of the food court, attracting both loyal fans of Korean cuisine and new customers eager to experience its offering.”

Bunsik, meaning “food made of flour”, blew up overnight on TikTok in 2021, when a trend surrounding Korean corn dogs featured a Bunsik store.

Director Jae Cho of the Maguro Group, owners of Bunsik, said: "When we initially opened Bunsik in 2021, the Corndog gained immense popularity through TikTok.

"This viral trend significantly increased the number of people eager to try our food.

"We have noticed that tourists visiting London often seek out Bunsik after seeing it on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

"It's an honour to have customers travel from places like Brighton, Birmingham, Manchester, and even from overseas."

As well as their Korean corn dogs, the Bunsik menu also features street food classics like Korean fried chicken and ddukbokki rice cakes.

Bunsik’s new venue will also welcome new menu changes, allowing more customers to enjoy the food.

A Bunsik spokesperson said: “Bunsik is thrilled to introduce a range of vegetarian options to its menu, a first for this new Stratford site, including the debut of its first veggie burger.”

Cho added: “"Bunsik has been flourishing and we're gearing up to launch it as a franchise next year. We recently opened our first site outside of London in Manchester, and its success has surpassed all expectations.

"This next location for us within Westfield Stratford is an exciting one as we are trying a new food court model.

"We do so with great confidence; having this fantastic opportunity to partner with a global brand as well renowned as Westfield."

The new Bunsik will open in December and will be available on food delivery app Deliveroo.
