The roof of a house partially collapsed after an electrical fault in its loft caused a fire to break out.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to the blaze in Orchid Close, Beckton, at around 11.45pm on Sunday (August 20).
Five people left the home before the London Fire Brigade (LFB) arrived and there were no reports of any injuries.
The loft-space of the mid-terraced house was completely gutted by the flames, with the roof partially collapsing as a result.
It took firefighters from Plaistow, East Ham and Barking around 90 minutes to extinguish the blaze, with the incident declared over at around 1.15am.
A LFB spokesperson said that the fire is believed to be accidental and was caused by an electrical fault in the loft space.
