A fox has been found dead in a residential area of Newham.

The Met Police was called yesterday (Tuesday, June 6) to reports of the fox found dead in an open area in Linton Gardens, Beckton.

A passer-by who spotted the dead animal yesterday said it looked like the fox had been "tortured".

The RSPCA has been informed, as have the Met's Wildlife Crime Unit.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who has first-hand information to call us on 0300 1234 999."

In March, the Recorder reported a string of incidents where foxes were hurt.

Police said a group of men was suspected of catching and torturing foxes in Newham.

At the time, police said the group were believed to regularly go to a wooded area near Kestrel Avenue and Linton Gardens in the early hours.
