If you are in search of the ultimate date night spot in London, then Madison is the spot for you.

Madison is a hidden gem in central London, situated on the rooftop of One New Change where you can eat your meal with St Paul’s Cathedral at eye level.

We were seated in the indoor area of the restaurant, however, there was also extensive outdoor seating lined with heat lamps to keep you and your party warm as you dine and drink in the open air of London.

The view that we had from our table was faultless.

I was lucky enough to have St Paul’s Cathedral staring right back at me over my dinner and if I turned to the left the sky was lit up by the London skyline.

The pink glow from the London Eye was a fun addition to the view that I hadn’t realised I would be able to see from the window of Madison.

I would certainly recommend this spot for anyone new to London who wants to absorb the gorgeous view eye-to-eye with London’s skyscrapers.

The restaurant has a very glamorous atmosphere inside with hanging lanterns and silver, leafy décor adorning the bar.

But now onto the most important part of a perfect date night - the food.

I started my dinner with the grilled Argentinian red prawns which were served with chilli, garlic, green sambal and lime.

The dish was packed with smoky flavour and punchy spice and the prawns were cooked so perfectly that they practically melted in my mouth.

My partner enjoyed the yellowfin tuna tartare which came with a wasabi and yuzu dressing, pickled cucumber, siracha kewpie and prawn crackers.

For the main course, I was torn between the fillet of seabass and the chicken parmigiana but decided to opt for the fish.

Alongside my enormous piece of seabass was a chorizo, chickpea and harissa stew which was smoky, hearty and delicious.

My fish was flaky and soft with crispy skin – the whole plate was a 10/10 from me.

My partner was excited to try the San Francisco ‘Ciappino’, which was essentially a tomato-based fish stew.

He found that the fish did not disappoint, being well-cooked and full of flavour really hitting the spot.

For dessert, my partner opted for the saffron poached ear with blackberries, honeycomb, oat crumble and vanilla ice cream which was his favourite course of the meal.

He found it to be very balanced and that the saffron gave it a savoury note which was ideal for him as someone who usually goes for cheese over a sweet dessert.

I opted for the espresso martini dark chocolate sphere caught my eye as I hadn’t heard of anything like it before.

It was served with tiramisu, Kahlua, coffee jelly and flat white ice cream.

I was most intrigued by the coffee jelly since I have never even heard of that before, and it was definitely the most interesting way I have ever got my daily dose of caffeine in.

However, the tiramisu stole the show for me.

It was a fun surprise to find the tiramisu inside of the chocolate sphere, giving me the experience of an Instagram-worthy dessert that tasted as good as it looked.

As a lover of dark chocolate, I approve this pudding.

We washed down our delectable meal with a bottle of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with our meal which was crisp and fresh, complementing the fish we enjoyed perfectly.

The dark atmosphere at Madison, lit up by the London skyline, the individual lanterns and candlelight gave the restaurant a romantic feel, however, the buzz of the music also made it feel like a spot I would love to bring some friends for some fun drinks out.
